Ready to hit the slopes
Breckenridge is one of the largest ski resorts I have EVER been to, with 31 functioning lifts! It was nice to be able to escape the beaten trails. So so fun.
After a long day of boarding we could not get enough of the endless varieties of tasty treats found on Main Street...
...mint hot chocolate
...wheat garlic pizza crust
...cookie dough filled cookies
...meat pies
...made-to-order crepes
...sweet potato waffles
...and so much more. (all healthy, of course!)
When not snowboarding, we took a ride on the Goldrunner Coaster, an alpine coaster elevated ABOVE the ski runs. So fun, but SO cold. High speed = high wind.
On Sunday, Brett FINALLY gave in to my naggings to go ice skating outside on a real pond. Despite the most painful figure skates ever, and the ice sending out a deep loud *crack* right under my feet, we I still had fun. (Brett couldn't get over the pain shooting through his feet and spent most of the time on the bench. Party pooper.)
Check out our SWEET form...
While walking around town we discovered a poster for the Ice Castles, which were only a short car ride away. Brett decided we MUST check this out, and I am so glad we did, because they ended up being one of the coolest things I have ever seen. Ever.
It was so cool we had to visit during the day...
...and at night!
Can I just mention, Brett felt right at home. ;)
(If you don't understand the following pics, than you don't know Brett. Just google "fortress of solitude" for some info)
Overall, we spent a lot of time walking, window shopping, and enjoying the beautiful ski town.
We had SUCH a fun time, and would definitely put Breckenridge on our list of places to re-visit.
Looks like a BLAST! Way to make the most of the weekend!
